It's 8:20 and my train leaves in about a half hour. I woke up just in time. I'm getting good at this traveling stuff. Throw my stuff in the bag then walk to the station. I'm exhausted, but I made it just in time to get on the train and sit in my reserved seat.
Of course I didn't need to reserve a train this time.
There's empty seats everywhere. Oh well. I fall asleep for hours and eventually wake up with a few hours to spare, so to keep myself busy I flip through some of the photographs from yesterday. Gorgeous scenery in Cesky Krumlov and wild pictures from the Drunken Monkey bar crawl. Pictures of me with Sam and Chris.
Pictures of me with a blonde Aussie?
I remember talking to her for a few minutes but that's about it. I can't remember her name Ns don't quite remember taking pictures together.
Interesting.
Eventually the train arrives in Munich and I walk across the street to the hostel. Tossed my stuff inside then headed off with my map to see the city.
The Glockenspiel goes off at 5pm and I watch the wooden figures pop out of one of the world's most famous clock towers. They dance, play music, and defeat the French. After the show I walk around to see the different churches, statues, and other monuments around the city. Then I head off to the English Garden, the world's biggest park within a city. It reminds me of San Francisco. There's naked people everywhere. After weaving my way through the park I come across the Chinese Tower. It's a big beer garden in the park. I pick up a pint and a currywurst then find a bench to sit down at. The pint is delicious, at the bratwurst is drowned in curry sauce. It seems so German. But I'm not quite sure about the curry part. It's good, but I wish I grabbed one of those massive pretzels instead.
After eating I head back to the hostel. It's pretty late, and when I checked in earlier they gave me a free drink ticket. At the bar I attempt to use my drink ticket but the bartender advises against it.
"It's happy hour. You should use your ticket when the beers are more expensive."
Alrighty then.
I order a 1.5L pitcher for €5 and an Aussie comes to the bar and tries to use two drink tickets for him and his mate, but again the bartender advises against it. Before the Aussie buys a beer I tell him to get two glasses and I'll fill him up with the pitcher. I end up joining the guys and playing a bit of pool with them. Before they leave they give me their drink tickets since they won't be back tomorrow.
What goes around comes around.
They head off. Now abandoned, I have a seat at a table with the rest of my pitcher. A few people walk in and I recognize one of them. I saw her this morning. On my camera.
Mystery girl from the photographs in Prague?
I recognize her friends as well. I was talking to them at the bar last night but I didn't know they were all together.
This is too much.
They see me and all come sit at my table. They're all Aussies. Liam, Emma, Nicole, and Mystery Girl. Her name's Elise and she's going to London tomorrow to watch her boyfriend run in the Olympics. He's Australia's best chance and he's slated to beat the Aussie record. It's probably the coolest thing I've ever heard.
While she's telling me their plans a guy comes over to our table with some friends and sets down a pitcher in front of me. He bought it for me, but I have no idea why.
Now it's a party.
At this point everyone is sitting down at the table and more keep coming. We all devise a plan to go to the Augustina beer garden tonight so off we go. On the way we pick up some more people. We mistakenly stop in the Augustina restaurant first to have dinner, and after a few hours we finally head off to the beer garden. I'm completely content with the dinner I had. I split a plate with Alex, a pretty blonde that happened to be sitting next to me. German meats and rice.
At the beer garden we all get big steins of beer and hang around for hours before finally going back to the hostel. We make plans to go to the Haufbrauhaus tomorrow.
Of course I didn't need to reserve a train this time.
